0.6% Ivermectin Premix for Swine
Qualitative and quantitative composition:
Each 1 g. contains:
Benzoic Acid 2.0 mg
Feed Additive q. s. to 1 gm.
Indications and properties:
AVIMEC PREMIX is a novel endectocide designed to deliver ivermectin to pigs with high potency, ease, satisfaction and reliability. It has a wide spectrum of activity against most endoparasite as well as ectoparasite that might infest pigs. AVIMEC PREMIX was prepared with high care in the laboratories of AVICO.
When mixed with feed at the recommended doses, AVIMEC PREMIX, give excellent results in combating; gastrointestinal parasites (roundworms). AVIMEC PREMIX had proven efficacy against; Ascaris suum, Hyostrongylus rubidus, Strongyloides ransomi, Trichuris suis, Oesophagostomum spp., Kidney worm (Stephanaurus dentatus), Lung worm (Metastrongylus spp.), and Ascarops strongylin
|Parasite||Stages of Ivermectin cidal activity|
|Ascaris suum||Mature and fourth-stage larvae|
|Hyostrongylus rubidus||Mature and fourth-stage larvae|
|Strongyloides ransomi||Mature and Immature|
|Trichuris suis||Mature and Immature|
|Oesophagostomum spp.||Mature and fourth-stage larvae|
|Stephanaurus dentatus||Mature and fourth-stage larvae|
Ivermectin has a wide margin of safety; it is considered safe even for direct human handling.
Pharmacokinetics and Mode of Action:
Following oral administration, Ivermectin is distributed in different tissues, Higher concentrations of the drug are sustained in the tissues for prolonged periods. In part because of its lipophility drug residues occur mainly in the liver and fat with very little in muscles.
Ivermectin is highly lipophilic molecule that is extensively distributed into tissues. The distribution into adipose tissue is particularly relevant and may act as a drug reservoir, that contributes to the long residence of the drug in the blood stream. The Ivermectin concentration profiles in plasma reflect those achieved in different tissues including those where target parasites are located.
Under the influence of paralyzing effect of AVIMEC PREMIX (Ivermectin) the parasites are paralyzed and died.
The mode of Action of Ivermectin against parasite related to the inhibition of the parasite motility. Ivermectin increases the release of GABA from the synaptosomes of the nervous system. Avermectins act on a group of glutamate-gated Cl- channels. Which appears to be expressed in defined muscle cells, and possibly neurons, in the pharynx of the worm. Glutamate is an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the pharynx
Dosage and administration:
AVIMEC PREMIX is fed to supply a recommended daily dose of 100 mcg/kg of body weight for seven consecutive days. As pig feeding could vary according to several reasons, in different phases of age, the inclusion rate of AVIMEC PREMIX should be adjusted to obtain the required concentration.
Add AVIMEC PREMIX to starter, grower and finisher feeds at 333 g per ton to supply 2 ppm to feed. Use this Medicated Feed as the only feed for 7 consecutive days. This provides approximately 100 mcg of ivermectin per kg of bodyweight per day.
IVERMECTIN Premix should be thoroughly and evenly mixed in the feed in accordance with good manufacturing practices for medicated feeds. Dispersion of ivermectin in the feed is enhanced by preparing intermediate premix by diluting 1 part Avimec Premix with 14 parts of finely ground feed ingredients. Ten lb of this intermediate premix is used to provide 1.8 g ivermectin in one ton of Medicated Feed.
For calculation of ppm inclusion rate for pigs with varying feed intake;
Inclusion rate (ppm)=
* In Kg.
It is recommended that treatment should be stopped at least seven days prior to slaughter, for the purpose of human consumption.
Packing and Shelf life:
Aluminum foil bags of 5 kg and 333 gm. When it is kept in dry conditions and protected from light and heat the shelf life is two years.
